I agree with Kevin regarding his views on love and marriage. I understand being faithful and not cheating on your significant other is a gesture of your love and commitment, but to deny the natural attraction men have for women is a little tough for me to believe. I have been married to my wife for 5 years and we’ve been together for 10 and there isn’t another woman on earth that could replace her. Also, I have never cheated on her and I couldn’t imagine having the audacity to do so. With that said, I am still a man with men’s urges and I occasionally wonder what it would be like to sleep with other women. Mostly I just want to see them naked, but that’s pretty much the same thing. Maybe when you go through what politicians go through to become successful, your marriage suffers and it all turns into a show for the public. Who knows.

Hi Scott and Kevin,
A year represents one complete revolution of the earth around the sun; the amount of time it takes to complete a revolution around the sun is actually 365.25 days. We have a leap year every four years to account for this as that’s when four years worth of quarter day add up to one extra day.
If we didn’t do this over time you can see we would eventually drift, because we would be saying we completed one full revolution when we didn’t. People would notice because the seasons are caused in at least part from our distance from the sun; we travel an egg-shaped (actually eliptical) orbit around the sun and our distance from the sun is uneven throughout the year. If we didn’t sync our orbit every four years eventually our ‘June months’ would take place during the positions in orbit which caused our ‘winter’ months.
What’s funny is the winter months are when we’re actually ‘closer’ to the sun - i think that has to do with the tilt of the earth but i’m not sure.

Kevin, though I agree in principle with your notion regarding fucking around as much as possible pre-marriage so you know what works for you and suchlike, you gotta bear in mind that not everyone, myself included, has that kind of opportunity in life (generally due to being hideous and/or having zero social skills)

Mosier was absolutely ON FIRE during 51-he’s the smodcast’s consistent “secret weapon”. I always thought most of the scat refs were coming from Kevin, and was duly shocked at how quickly Scott went right for the “Sh-tzer” ref. Brilliant - almost choked to death laughing so hard!

Smodcast makes my commute fly by. I must say I like it better when you guys just Google something, rather than speculate about the facts or science behind something for what sometimes feels like a LONG time. I’m much more entertained about what you think, than the facts you know….or in some cases don’t know.

Daylight Savings came from Colonial days when streets were light by lamps. They would change the time so that business’s could stay open longer with out lighting the lamps in the streets, so it SAVES the DAYLIGHT. I actually think it may have been due to the cost of oil to light the lamps. Could be wrong on that point.

Agree w/ SmodFanRobby, Mosier was definitely on fire this episode - I had someone in the car with me while listening and though I can’t remember exactly what prophetic Mosier utterance was being said but by buddy nodded and said “damn, these guys are good - you gotta show me how to get this Podcast stuff setup.”
On an aside did anyone else think Mosier’s mic was a little hot and Kevin’s was a little soft? I never have had the urge to repeatedly mess with the volume in the midst of a smodcast as I did with #51.

I don’t remember there being a Brady Bunch episode where one of the characters was born on a leap year, but I do remember it was the central plot of an episode of Wings. In the episode Roy Biggins celebrated his 12th birthday at a Chuck e Cheese type restaurant. I don’t know if remembering that episode is impressive or embarrassing.

Kev, Knowing what a fan of musicals you are I was surprised you didn’t reference The Pirates of Penzance. The basic story line is that a child is sent to apprentice for a group of Pirates until his 21st Birthday, unfortunately he was born on a leap year and is only 7. It may not be The Brady Bunch but there is a leap year reference for ya.
