Well this is my first posting, so bare with me. After seeing this up rise of comic books becoming movies as of lately (i.e. Spider-Man, Dare Devil, X-Men, The Hulk, Blade, Spawn, and even more upcoming Superman and Batman movies). I start to think about what great but lesser known comic heroes might be overlooked for movie stardom. In my opinion, one of my favorite comic book series has been Dead-Pool's series. I really couldn't say it any plainer, Dead-Pool is just a badass assassin armed to the teeth and whields double ninja toes to boot. I could see so much potential in putting Dead-Pool in a movie. The movie would have excellent gun and sword fight sequences. His costume is badass enough. But I don't want to go off on a tangent... But in your opinion who do you think would be a good comic hero canidate for his/her own movie?

I'm hoping the Starman tv series takes off, and stays true to source. Preacher's also in the works, so that's covered, I think. I'd still love to see a Scud: The Disposable Assassin cartoon.

I would love to see a Dead-Pool flick. Now lets do a little AICN(sorry, blasphemer) and argue over who would star.

Ah Dead Pool, as witty as spiderman and his killing sprees add the dash of morbidity I just love in my humor. I never caught up with the ongoing series, but everything is becoming a trade paperback nowadays, so I'll pick him em as I find em. It would make a great movie, though not necessarily a marketable one... maybe once the comic movie engine is in full swing he'll be optioned.

Far as actors? Hmmm... someone with the physique and a quick, twisted sense of humor. I can think of people who might fit the role (Bourne Identity's Matt Damon, Fight Club's Brad Pitt), but no one who would actually do it.

A pair of comic book heroes that are overlooked?
Milk and Cheese.
A stupendous super duo of insults and pain!

not sure why but Id like to see dark minds made into a film, and watchmen.

Did anyone ever read those super old school Legend Of Zelda comic books? I still can't tell if they were cool or not, but it's the Legend of Zelda, so how could it not be cool?

Didn't they pretty much do that with Lord of the Rings? I'm still one of two people on the planet that didn't love that movie.

Something like Alley Cat would be okay (filmwise) cause its based on the likeness of a real life person, hence they could get alley baggett for the role. Just I dont think her comic would be worthy of an adaption.

Wow, Watchmen really would make a kick ass movie. I wouldn't trust it to anyone but David Lynch, though, 99% of studios and directors would pervert it into another flashy, PG-13 comic cash-in.

The only comic book I ever really read was 'Dark Chylde'. I liked her because we never see chick superheroes but I don't think she'd adapt well to the big screen. We'd need someone with 11' legs, no waist, and huge boobs...and clothes that end up disappearing by the end of the story. Guys'd watch it.

I ended up really liking the series 'Witchblade'...right before it was cancelled. And they could bring Wonder Woman back. She was cool. Also She-Ra...but they should leave it animated.

Hey. I was reading your post, and agree that some comic book heroes have been overlooked. But there are some that must never see the light of day. For instance, LardBoy was a boy hero who just eats everything. And other comic book adaptions have not been successful. Dolph Lundren played The Punisher, and it was shocking. But there is a new version coming up, and it looks to be very successful. After the popularity of SpiderMan, the studios snagged up the rights to every comic book available. So we may begin to see more of our favourites on screen!

hey,i agree w/all of u there has been lots of comic heroes over looked,i think that a good movie would be "marvel v.s. street fighter", of course they have made the video game but if they made a movie it would be a special effect giant explosion filled action fighting extravaganza! and would result in a mass of spin-off super heroe movies. maybe they shoud make such a movie after everyone has made theyre own individual moives making it a "SUPER MOVIE"!!!

I dont see marvel vs capcom making it bigtime since thered need to be a plot, marvel have only started to get things kinda right recently in terms of films, capcom did good with their streetfighter anime, then ruined the live action film, then ruined the alpha anime. Resident evil sucked but will be memorable for the super cool laser hallway scene. Though I'm sure if capcom made a devil may cry film that might be slightly good.

Dude, this Punisher movie SUCKS. Wait until the remake comes out. If you like the Punisher/Frank Castle at all, DO NOT waste your time on the cheesy Dolph Lundgren version. Save your pesos.

Hey guys, I'm also new so i'll just get started i admit a deadpool movie would be awsome, but, what about who SHOULD be our favorite villain(he's ALWAYS going to be a villain to me) who has his own comic??? I'm talking about our favorite symbiote venom i expexted him to be in BOTH spider-man movies before i heard about the story lines and simply if there not going to put him in a spider-flik they should AT LEAST give him his own movie.(although it WOULD be difficult to do his origin. or even Ben Reilly im sure you guys remember him???

I guess there are quite a few comic movie remakes that should be done. The Punisher, is one of these that should be redone. That one made in 90 had a very stale plot. It should be remade, funny enough though, the movie was on last night and I still watched it. If they remade the movie I think they should have Nick Fury team up with Punisher. They always made a good team. Problem is that the main villan of that movie should of been Wilson Fisk (Kingpin. But they probably wouldn't use him since he was already used in Daredevil. Also 2 other movies that should be remade are The Fantastic 4, there was a crappy movie of them made back in the 70's, I think it was the 70's, but it was crappy and the special effects and costumes sucked. With the great technology that can be accessed nowdays for making movies, I think now is a good time to remake a Fantastic 4 movie. Also there was a Captain America movie made in 79. The movie was plot was pretty lame, but atleast the director tried to stay true to the comic. Red Skull was the villan in the movie. But the final product just wasn't very good. Thus I think there should be a remake of that movie as well.

And going back to the main topic. Other superheroes that I think could have interesting movies would be Iron Man, Silver Surfer, and Green Lantern. All are very cool superheroes, and as far as I know their comics haven't been made into movies. Silver Surfer vs. Galactus would be a cool idea.

Dr.Strange is one of the coolest Marvel characters there is.
Unfortunately he looks like a [censored] french waiter at Mardi Gras or something and so everyone thinks he blows.
I was always a big Strange fan and still am, i wish they would put him in the costume with the blue face mask like he had in the 70's so people would take him seriously.
That's why Dr. Fate seems cooler he has a good outfit even though he does(basicly)the same stuff.

Hmmm

I bet that's the first time that was written anywhere.

About anything.

In case you didn't know, Watchmen is almost certainly going to be made into a movie. David Hayter, who helped write X-Men and revised The Hulk, is working on a film adaptation of the comic. I think it's one of his pet projects besides a few TV pilots.

It's weird that everybody is talking about how cool a Deadpool movie would be, because I was just looking at some of my old Deadpool back-issues a few weeks ago and commenting to myself what a cool movie it would make. I envisioned a hard R rated, animated film with Jason Lee providing the voice of the quick-witted merc.

Another pick of mine that would probably be impossible would be a Savage Dragon movie. On second thought it would probably get all messed up, so scratch that.

I think Watchmen is just totally untranslatable to film. Maybe, if HBO did a mini-series ala Band of Brothers or Sci-Fi's Taken it might work. Possible directors (or in the case of a mini-series, producers) I would find acceptable would be David Lynch, David Cronenberg or Terry Gilliam. Or Darren Aronofsky.

And Spikey, the Captain America flick to which I think you were refering to was made sometime in the late-'80s to the early-'90s. There are two that I know of and only one had the Red Skull as a villain. Cap was played by like the grandson of J.D. Salinger.

The Fantastic Four flick was also made some time in the early nineties by Roger Corman. I haven't seen it but I've heard it's atrocious.

I think the character you all overlooked is Sandman. Deadpool is alright, but not for the big screen. He would make a good supporting character in a New Mutants movie though, but Sandman[Niel Gaimans not the crappy spiderman villan]is my first choice. And isnt deadpool cancelled anyway?

Wow, character flashback. I remember him. Think I had a Spawn crossover of his.

And it's strange reading all these ideas for Superheros, with now a majority of the films made and released/upcoming.

Darkhawk, baby! I think it would make an excellent B-movie.
