I already own MGS2 so can someone tell me if substance (on ps2) is worth getting, I already have hawks3 & 4 so snake skateboarding on big shell isn't a big deal to me, and I wasn't a big fan of the original VR missions from 1, even in both games I played on easy and enjoyed the plot, albiet still dying a good 10+ times.

Should you get MGS2Substance? That depends...did you like Raiden's missions? If you were like many of the series' fans out there who felt there was too much Raiden and not enough Snake, then yes, get Substance. It has a section called SNAKES TALES where you basically play through all of Raiden's mission as Snake. Plus, there's a few other modes, such as the BOSS SURVIVAL mode (unlocked later) and the VR missions are actually really good, and offer up a decent amount of challenge. But basically it boils down to if you want more bang for more buck: the original SONS OF LIBERTY game is on Greatest Hits now for $20, and Substance is twice that at $40...is it worth the extra $20? I'd say the extra game modes (well, ignoring the Skateboarding crap) just might be...

But then again, i said that in the review too...heh

You also get to play as Solid Snake through the entire game, instead of having to use that other guy. Forgot his name.
I think there might be some extras(Art, etc.) in the game as well, not entirely sure about that though.

In responce to you both, well I already had boss survival cause european version got a shedload of extras that u guys missed out on til now, like boss survival and the extreme difficulty (one shot from olga on the tanker can kill)
and casting theatre and a making of documentary disc. You cant play play through big shell as snake, that was a rumour that hideo didn't bother with in the end. I might just stick with sons of liberty, I dont mind raiden, hes sort of Luke Skywalker where snake is han solo, which I guess makes Hal "Otacon" Emmerich to be chewbacca /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Same here!Is the game worth getting? I have played MGS2 thouroughly. Is there MORE gameplay time when you play as Raiden when he is naked? That was my favorite part!

Dude, the rain scenes where terrible, made me want to go out and buy a PS2 and thats bad. andyways yeah if you got a Playstation go ahead and get it....lots of cool VR missions and stealth missions. not to mention Snake Boarding which was sweet and only on PS2 those bastards!
