Just thought I would post this information for those of you who eat up Moore's crap. The first time I saw this movie I thought "that was a nice piece of fiction".
Moore winning an Oscar for a DOCUMENTARY is the same as Milli Vanilli winning a Grammy.

Yeah, read that awhile ago. It would be nice if Moore isn't such a hypocrite...if he was actually honest and his "documentaries" had less bullshit and bias, it can actually be, you know, GOOD.

Agreed. He actually makes a few very good points in his "documentary". However, there is no excuse for his lies and deceptions. The fact that many people think that this movie is showing them "truth" and that the academy of motion pictures gave him the highest award for it really bugs me.
Interestingly enough, most of the people who adore Moore question the government relentlessly... shouldn't they be questioning Moore as well?

I haven't seen any of his movies, but his acceptance speech cracked me up. And I question EVERYTHING...and everyone...:D

I saw Roger & Me and his film about the tobacco companies, however I knew they had to be embellished to prove entertaining at all. I haven't seen ...Columbine but I guess I should now to be able to understand that article.

I will buy it when it comes out. I want to own this movie so that some day I can show it to my children as proof that even movies that pretend to be revealing lies... lie. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Honestly, even if the whole thing was a fabrication, anything that convinces one person to fight against gun ownership is a good thing, in my humble opinion. And I do believe that was what Moore was trying to do. He's said that he didn't expect to win the Oscar, and I doubt if it even matters much... the key thing is that he is very good at taking a serious issue and showing the public a negative side to it... even if that negative side is reinforced by camera tricks, it's worth it to save the lives of potential victims and their families.
I used to be a big fan of his, but over the past few years...Meh.
He's become more of a bully as of late, almost taking a holier than thou attitude. Hmmm... He did want to become a priest...
If you're going to "tell the truth", one has to adhere to a certain set of rules. When that starts to get toyed with, it's bad for everyone. Ignorance abound! I hope he gets back to his roots, it seems he's steered off course.
I understand not everyone is happy about firearms, It's a serious subject. To me, among other things, they are tools to be respected.

Ummm... My family and I were almost "victims" if it were'nt for the fact that we armed ourselves in response to an attempted home invasion. It would be nice if the world was all "incense and peppermints"... but sadly it's not.
Please don't take it the wrong way. I'm not like the guy who was on "Da Ali G show" recently, It was one of the Borat skits in Texas I believe, at the gun range. He was scary and just plain silly. Many of us are not like that.
That's my two cents. Thanks for reading. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

So as long as the message is a good one it is ok to lie?
Sorry, I'm not buying this one. PLUS, if you have seen the movie you would know that it is not about fighting gun ownership.

Well, considering that truth is subjective, I've always taken Moore with a grain of salt. I knew as soon as he was nominated for the Oscar that he'd make a speech if he won. I like his books, his movies and his TV Show ("Awful Truth") but he's really just the Rush Limbaugh for Liberals. (Conservatives have feelings too, dammit.) They're just cheerleaders attached to a specific political agenda. Pick your poison.
And he's fat too. He's SO fat. He's a big fatty fat fat.

I don't care about his political leanings. I do care that there were REAL documentary makers who were robbed off an Oscar so that Commiewood could stroke Moore off with his fictional accounts of actual events.
Perhaps if they had nominated him for best picture I wouldn't care because 'Bowling' was a great piece of fiction with a very good message about the media and its hyper-reporting of violence (and the US's love for violence).
