Clerks. I quote this movie all the damn time.

I voted chasing amy, but only because its the black sheep, its the sentimental more serious film of the five, and for that reason I love it. That said I must be a closet gay/bi or just scarily effeminate. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

Nah it's kevin smith. I'll be the first in line for Jersey Girl come November. Hell for that matter if he made a bad Meryl Streep movie, I'd be first in line. Oh god Kevin please never make a bad Meryl Streep movie so I don't have to suffer the indignity! lol.

Chasing Amy is a great movie that I think people overlook a lot but I just think Clerks is better.
If you are looking for a movie with heart though, Chasing Amy is it.

Gotta go with Mallrats on this one...

It's the first Kevin Smith movie I ever saw...and didn't see Clerks until several years later.

"Buy Me Toys"? "Brenda?" "Ha ha ha...you dumb bastard." "That kid is on the escalator again." "Except for the mustache."

Genius.

I'm not a huge comics hound, but I was when I was younger and had the dough for that kind of stuff (although I've never really been into one hero or another...I liked collecting Elseworlds). I knew NOTHING about the movie when I went to see it, so when Stan the man showed up...a great moment.

Mallrats has a little of everything I was into when I was younger, and then some. I only wish Hooper had made an appearance in Mallrats first. This was the first movie I ever saw that made me say, "Wow, this guy knows EXACTLY what I'm thinking. He knows EXACTLY the things I grew up with." A scary thought to be sure...but Mallrats will always top my list.

(Plus, the poster, while it didn't do the movie any favors in terms of marketing, is the best out of all of them.)

Most likely, but in the "so far" category I had to vote for Clerks. It's the one I identified with the most. Although J&SBSB made me laugh the most.

I think Dogma is Kevin's masterpiece... Chasing Amy is his most critically praised... and J&SBSB is his funniest.

Clerks will always have a special place in my heart (as I saw it in NYC in its limited release and nearly died laughing). Mall Rats gets better the more I watch it (maybe like ROTJ). I look forward to seeing Jersey Girl (again?).

I voted for Dogma because I think it is Kevin at his all around best.

I completely agree with your sentiments RB. Dogma is the best overall movie of Kevin's. I'm the other person that voted it for it lol. I'm surprised its lagging in the poll.

I just added another vote for Dogma. How could a movie that is so mixed up - Bartleby and Loki in a movie about Christianity - and has a [censored] demon get it so right? Beliefs are hard to change but ideas are where it's at. Genius.

I just put in a vote for "Chasing Amy". In my opinion the best film that could be made on a $250k budget...Or a budget 4x that. Quality flick.

I sang Kodachrome at the bar Saturday night. Also did Rush's Red Barchetta and Rage's Killing in the Name. Wanted to do Gnarls Barkely's Crazy, but the DJ said to me, "I didn't know that Charles Barkely had a song..."
