Least Favorite: Jerry (lets blow some s**t up) Bruckheimer

Favorite: Oliver Stone

We could add a third category for directors that fit in both depending on the film.
My nomination: Robert Altman
How else can I resolve my confusion between Nashville and Dr. T and the Women?

Favorite? Steven Soderbergh for many reasons, not the least of which is that his movies are f-ing gorgeous. As for least favorite? I'll keep mum on that as I want to work in this town again and invariably, every time I make a criticism, I wind up on their set the next week (read: Bruckheimer).

I love how Shyamalan still believes in the art of directing
Listen to his commentary on Unbreakable and you'll know what I mean.
My least favourite would have to be George Lucas
He doesnt seem to want to push any boundaries any more, which is pathetic really as thats what he was known for originally...

Can we add Michael Bay to the list of people who like to blow some s**t up. Although I have to say I like most of his movies sans Pearl Harbor.

Not many people I know could say that Oliver Stone is a favorite after Natural Born Killers. I still say the man was smoking crack when he made that. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

David Fincher is sweet.
I really hated Requiem for a Dream, so I would say Darren Aronofsky for least favorite.

Favorite: Coen bros., because they write their own stuff, work with small budgets, and bring respectability to genre stuff.

Wachowski bros are a close second, for the same reasons, but are in danger of becoming the next Lucas.

Least favorite: Lucas

Soderbergh is falling from the first group to the second. It seems he's content now to just do remakes, which would be ok, but your supposed to make them better. Next up for him and Clooney: Nine Queens remake, I mean jeez, why not just redo The Sting, at least you wouldnt have to translate it...
