Shelved when Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected governor of California, Warner Bros.-based producer Jerry Weintraub's remake of "Westworld" is now a go, with "The Cell" director Tarsem set to helm.

Schwarzenegger's reps insist he's not involved with the project at this point. But it's certainly not a given that he won't be in "Westworld" should he decide not to seek re-election in next year's election or should he lose the race. His current term ends in January 2007.
The gov was attached to star in "Westworld" -- as well as to produce with Weintraub -- before swearing off his acting career in 2003 to turn to politics.
He wasn't, however, set to play the Yul Brynner role of the robotic gunfighter who turns an Old West vacation theme park into a nightmare, but one of the park guests.
Weintraub's remake for Warner Bros. Pictures hasn't seen signs of new life until now, with Tarsem's hire.
There is no screenplay or writer yet attached to the "Westworld" remake. In early 2003, when Schwarzenegger was still attached, scribes Michael Ferris and John Brancato had been set to write the remake. Duo penned "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines."
Tarsem directed Deep Films' indie "The Fall," which is in post-production, from a screenplay by Dan Gilroy, Tarsem and Nico Soultanakis. (As reported by VARIETY)
