Week of March 13, 2006

You can take "The Peacemaker," "Deep Impact," and "The Tuxedo." We'll take "Gladiator," "American Beauty" and anything else that didn't suck.

Emilio's 17

Yeah, like he needed all that overpriced crap anyway...

This lawsuit's going to make 'House Party' look like 'House Party Two!'

I told you... don't call me SENIOR!!

Maybe this is all a bad dream too?

Thanks Sharon, but I think I'll wait until this one comes out on DVD (so I can freeze frame of course)

There is absolutely, positively no nepotism in Hollywood. None.

You're good, baby, I'll give you that... but me? I'm magic.

This band will go down like a lead balloon

Well, Goodbye there Children...

They can't sell the Capitol Records building! What will be left to destroy in the next crappy 'end of the world' movie?

Same old Courtney - still sponging off Kurt

Panic on the streets of Austin

You're a fat, Botox faced, wig-wearing ninny! Oh yeah? Well your band has a dirty H addict as a lead singer!

You’ve all, officially, been Ryalled.

Today, OG Poop Shoot EIC Chris Ryall heads off into the sunset, after nearly four years of running shit (and, thankfully, never into the ground). Chris has really been a rock for Poop Shoot, lo these many years - and not the kind that drags it down or sinks it, mind you; the kind a brother could count on, day-in and day-out, to build and maintain a site that accomplished exactly what it set out to do: move beyond the movie in-joke it started life as and become a thriving web destination all its own.

Many years back, when I hit up Chris to run what was little more than some haphazardly scratched together ideas for “one place I can visit that’d cover movies, comics and t.v., because I’m too lazy to visit three different sites, y’know?” (kindly, he never said what his face belied: “You, sir, are a bloated sloth…”), he managed to shape those whims into viable version of an all-purpose entertainment web destination and build it into an oft-visited community that maintains the most consistent traffic of the many web sites I lay claim to. I can’t thank him (or ace headline penner Scott Tipton) enough for staying as long as they have. I'm sad to see him go, though happy that he'll keep on keeping on elsewhere on the web. I'll always be grateful to him for the non-stop, top-notch job he’s done here at Movie Poop Shoot. He'll be missed.

As for the future of the Shoot... I can’t quite say. Without Ryall at the helm, I’ll now have to take a more active role in the site – which means I’ll be doing a weekly column here, along the lines of One Hand Clapping. The Mighty Ming Chen, Mattt Potter and I are in the midst of figuring out how the Shoot v.2 will take shape. Hopefully, folks will stick around while we try some stuff out. Rest assured, the message boards will not be touched - so folks who chill and chat here can continue to make it their home.

Meantime, I’d appreciate your patience as we try to figure out what a Poop Shoot without Chris and Scott will look like. They’ve set the bar pretty high, so we’ve got our work cut out for us.

Once again, many thanks, guys – for making MPS what it’s been since day one.

And now, on with the show…

Kevin
